Pepco Prescriptive Retrofit Lighting Program Update (Oct. 1, 2026)
Due to strong participation, the Pepco Prescriptive Retrofit Lighting Program is temporarily pausing new lighting applications. Existing applications and active projects will continue to be processed. The program is expected to reopen Jan. 1, 2027, or sooner if possible. Submit close-out documents by Oct. 16 to maximize the opportunity to receive incentive payments this year.

High Efficiency Equipment Technical Sheet
We offer cash incentives for a wide range of energy-efficient refrigerators, freezers, and commercial kitchen equipment. Additionally, if your business uses refrigeration, installing energy-efficient equipment and controls on existing or new equipment can help you reduce energy costs and enhance equipment reliability.
Incentives are available for:
- Anti-sweat heat controls for cooler and freezer doors.
- Reach-in door closers for coolers and freezers.
- Strip curtains for walk-in coolers and freezers.
- Electronically commutated motor evaporative fan motors for walk-in and display coolers and freezers.
- Solid and glass door reach-in refrigerators and freezers.
- Steam cookers.
- Griddles.
- Convection and combination ovens.
- Low- and high-temperature commercial dishwashers.
- Low-flow, pre-rinse valve for automatic dishwashers.
- Cube, nugget, and flake ice machines.
- Water coolers.
- Smart strips.
- Hotel room HVAC controls.

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems have a major impact on energy usage. Our program helps cover the cost of new air conditioners, heaters, and other HVAC equipment that will use less electricity than standard HVAC options. That means you can save money on your electric bill while still being comfortable.
Whether you are upgrading existing fixtures or considering innovative lighting technologies and lighting controls, there is probably an incentive to benefit you.
Many customers upgrade to LED lighting. LEDs can use up to 90 percent less electricity than alternative lighting options. This will save you money every month on your electric bill while providing a brighter space.

Electrical controls can help you save money and energy by automatically turning off lights and equipment whenever they're not in use.
They can also be used for:
- Smart strips
- Hotel room HVAC controls
- Hotel room receptacle controls
- Vending machine controls
VFDs control motor speed so that they use less electricity. By controlling motor speed and torque, VFDs offer greatly enhanced system control and efficiency. VFDs are commonly used on fans and water pumps.

We offer cash incentives for installing energy-efficient commercial clothes washers and dehumidifiers, as well as energy-efficient window film. Upgrading to energy-efficient equipment can also reduce your electric bill for years to come.

The EmPOWER Maryland charge funds programs that can help you reduce your energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and save you money. Since the inception of the EmPOWER Maryland program in 2008, the programs have saved $14.5 billion on installed measures at a cost of $4.1 billion. In addition to new program costs, this charge includes paying off the uncollected costs that were accrued over time by programs required by the EmPOWER statute and authorized by the Commission. In accordance with House Bill 864 the uncollected amounts will be fully paid by the end of 2032.
