Veronica’s Bakery & Café

When Eddy Campos-Molina’s mother bought Veronica’s Bakery & Café in 2017, she inherited an outdated air conditioner that couldn’t properly cool the popular restaurant. Comfort for employees and customers was a priority, but replacing the HVAC system seemed out of reach, with quotes as high as $35,000.

The Opportunity

Through a local business alliance, Campos-Molina connected with Pepco’s Energy Savings for Business program and learned they could install a new, energy-efficient HVAC system within budget. Pepco provided financial incentives and interest-free monthly payments through its Small Business Energy Advance.

The Upgrades

Veronica’s Bakery & Café replaced its old air conditioning system with a high-efficiency HVAC unit, made affordable through Pepco’s incentives and financing options.

The Results

The new HVAC system improved comfort for staff and guests while reducing energy bills, allowing the bakery to focus on its signature Latin American, Salvadoran, and Mexican cuisine. The team plans to work with Pepco again to upgrade to LED lighting, which can use up to 90% less electricity than traditional options.
