Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Moderate Income Offering

Moderate income customers in Maryland may qualify for a no-cost home energy assessment and lower cost energy efficient home upgrades. These changes can help improve comfort and lower energy costs by 20%.*

How it Works

Step 1: See if you qualify for a no-cost home energy assessment

Apply for a no-cost assessment and submit a document verifying your eligibility. Customers who meet the income criteria below qualify for the program:

During a no-cost assessment, a contractor will come to your home and you will:

  • Receive a comprehensive evaluation of your home systems (air sealing and insulation, HVAC, and more).
  • Get energy efficient equipment installed, such as LED lightbulbs, efficient showerheads, and more.
  • Get a detailed, customized report with prioritized recommended improvements.

 

Step 2: Get lower cost home upgrades

This offering includes three tiers, based on the findings of your assessment***.

Tier 1: Pay $250 and get air sealing and insulation upgrades throughout your home ($5,000 value).

Tier 2: Pay $500 and get air sealing and insulation throughout your home, plus the installation of a new heat pump water heater ($7,500 value).

Tier 3: Pay $750 and get air sealing and insulation upgrades throughout your home, plus the installation of a new HVAC system ($10,000 value).

***The Moderate Income Offering is valid for income qualified Maryland customers living in homes up to 3,000 square feet with a single combustion appliance zone. A combustion zone is defined as a room and enclosed air volume that contains a combustion appliance, such as a gas range stove or a gas water heater. Customers should discuss the cost of participating with their participating contractor.
