Home Performance With ENERGY STAR® Program

Getting Your Home Energy Assessment

Once you've scheduled your assessment, a Participating Contractor will come to your home and use diagnostic equipment to perform a comprehensive evaluation. This helps to determine your home’s energy use, and how a combination of improvements can work together to increase home comfort, lower energy consumption and energy costs.

This process may include:

  • Testing your home for air leakage, which contributes to higher energy costs.
  • Camera tests using infrared images to assess your home's insulation, which can directly affect comfort and energy efficiency performance.
  • Safety testing to detect carbon monoxide and natural gas leaks.
  • Checking for proper ventilation, which is critical to reducing indoor air pollutants and preventing moisture and mold growth in your home.

The following energy-saving items may be installed with your permission, at no additional cost, to help you start saving energy immediately:

  • ENERGY STAR certified LED bulbs
  • Faucet aerators
  • Efficient-flow showerheads (fixed mount or handheld)
  • Water heater pipe wrap(s)
  • Smart power strips
  • ShowerStart® showerhead adapters

Following your assessment, you'll receive a detailed report with recommended improvements, potential energy savings and available rebates for eligible measures to make your home more energy efficient.

Request an assessment and a Participating Contractor will contact you to get started.
